Rescue Yourself!
Testimonials

"One of the things I like most about Rescue Yourself! is that early in the book Adam offers some quick time management fixes that can be implemented right away. I've read other self-help books where I felt the need to understand the entire "program" before I could get started putting it into action and seeing results. Rescue Yourself! is not that way at all. In fact, 20 minutes into studying "Part I: Get Your Head Above Water," I already had a number of great ideas down on paper. I particularly liked your suggestions for getting better control of my e-mail."

"All in all, the book is a quick and easy read, and its concepts are easy to understand. But like any book of its kind, it won’t do you any good unless you make a dedicated effort to implement and stick with the suggested changes. Luckily, Adam includes a checklist, a workbook and a cool relaxation MP3 as supplements to help you get started, stay on track and begin seeing real change in a short period of time."

Blaine Riney, owner/operator of Terry Riney Agency, Inc.

"I just finished Adam’s new book.  He has managed to cover everything I hear from my employees and clients while they try to master their time management challenges.  Not only does the book cover the material, but it gives practical solutions and best practices along with humor and well researched proven data.  I am looking forward to recommending this book to my adult students, employees, friends and colleagues."

"The material is well organized, and Adam is right when he recommends that we go through the book from beginning to end.  The build of skills is logical and on point.  Thanks Adam for taking the time to write a book that will be helpful to everyone who is juggling lives that are out of control.  We all have 86,400 seconds each day, no more and no less.  We can’t make more time, only manage it well.  Your book gives us a wealth of ideas that will work in making our lives more productive and enjoyable with less stress!"

"As a law student, I have a TON of work to do and a lot to keep track of.  I love the concrete and easy-to-follow methods that Rescue Yourself! offers to help regain control over your schedule at work and at home. In fact, I "rescued" 12 hours this week! Also, whereas other time management books simply focus on procedures to implement in an office environment, Rescue Yourself! proposes a holistic approach that addresses everything from nutrition and sleep to fitness and personal finance.

Also, I gained a lot of insights from the self-diagnostic exercises; they helped me identify and neutralize the forces that conspire against productivity and overall happiness.  I strongly recommend this e-system for anyone who wants to feel more in charge of their work day as well as anyone who wants more free time to enjoy the things they value."

"I see the best from multiple programs distilled down to their essence. In my role as a psychologist and an executive coach I frequently work with people to get their life under control. This program hits all the important problem areas that that people have trouble with. They will start this program thinking they are going to get more organized, but if they apply and practice the concepts it could revolutionize their life. "

"To be honest, when a friend recommended this to me I didn't think I would need help with time management.  Though my life has its hectic moments, I feel generally in charge of my schedule and the ebb and flow of life. Furthermore, the book seems to be geared towards professionals in the working world, and I wasn't sure of how it would fit my law school schedule.  I was wrong- I really found the book very helpful in both regards- there are many things I can improve upon to more effectively use my time and I think the book would be helpful for anyone, in school, at a job, or in other situations."

"I got a lot out of the sections on batching tasks, and especially those sections on dealing with e-mail.  As a student, e-mail is more of a "fun" diversion than a stress generator, but it is an incredible distraction when trying to write a paper, do reading, or otherwise be productive.  I'm going to only check it occasionally after reading your book, and really capitalize on time I've allotted to get one or two important tasks done, instead of dragging it out over multiple hours while I read recipes, friends' updates, and plan for weekends."

"The organization of the book and its concise, clear writing make it all the more effective.  I read it from the beginning to the end, but while doing so, I realized that I could jump back to specific sections for a more in-depth approach where I need it most.  The entire book seems to me like a good TV show- jumping in at any random episode is good, but each individual episode is even better when you've been through the whole story and know the context and how it fits together with each of the other parts."

Finally, I would recommend this book to any fellow student, whether they feel like their time is out of control or not.  The basic strategies and suggestions are applicable in a student or professional setting and I think they'll help me a lot.  Perhaps the best possible audience for the book might be someone in my shoes 3-4 months from now- right before starting work.  My plan is to spend a lot of time with this book right before my job starts and skip the step of breaking bad habits and just try to form good ones."

Gardner Rordham, Law Student, Washington & Lee University

I love your book!!!  Thanks so much for writing it. I love that you have a conversation with your readers and your photos are delightful. I also enjoy your phrases like "crisis du jour" - love it! I'm hooked and I'm making a list of colleagues and clients who must read your book.I've been practicing the calendar for 2 days now and my productivity has soared. Tomorrow - on to Batching, To Doing, and De Cluttering! Can't wait. Thanks for the life changing wisdom!"

Bob Wohlsen, Executive Coach

"In struggling with time management, my strategy of choice was to cut out the things that were not ‘required’ of me: sleeping, exercising, and relaxing.  Stressed to the max, I grew easily frustrated with any ‘gurus’ who tried to help me through abstract discussions of prioritization.

Finally! This workbook offers concrete, implementable tasks and steps, basic no-brainers rooted in psychology and an understanding of human behavior, to help regain control and a sense of self. For example, my in-box has never been cleaner or better managed!  After getting time and demands under control, this book then walks you through a dialogue of how you spend your time and how you structure your life.  More than time management, this workbook helped me answer greater questions about personal fulfillment and performing at peak levels."

Christie Mason, Civic Engagement Fellow, Davidson College

"Adams's book has been so helpful to me!  I am not a business woman "wall street" type, just an ordinary married working woman in my thirties, but still found myself getting buried with day to day chores at times.  I am already putting Adam's ideas to work at home, and I dont feel bogged down by laundry, bill paying, cleaning, etc.  The book is easy to read, and Adam's ideas are easy to implement into day to day life.  I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with managing time at work or home, or both."

Lisa August, Physical Therapist

"Thank you so much for writing Rescue Yourself!  The current and practical time management and organizational skills that you have laid out are right-on for today's work environment.  Your tangible and concrete tips are presented in such a way as to encourage implementation and success.  I love your coordination of the work setting as well as  home and personal habits as the two definitely overlap.  I know of many colleagues and friends who would benefit from this book and am happy to recommend Rescue Yourself! to them."

"I just finished reading "Rescue Yourself! Time Management Strategies to Take Your Life Back" and I must say it is a tremendously useful book. Easy to read and use, well organized and chock full of great strategies for time management. Just follow the book and add the relevant tools and techniques to your routine. Some of these are huge productivity gainers. Particularly the management of email time, focusing on a few key priorities first and finally integrating your values into how you use your time and focus.

I have been coaching and consulting for years and that means multiple clients and all at different stages of work. Keeping track of everything is always a challenge but made less so by the great strategies in the book. My business isn't a scaleable business so every minute counts and I always strive to be as productive as possible. These tools and techniques have added great value to me and my business already! I started implementing strategies before I even finished the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get in control of their time."

"Rescue Yourself is mandatory reading in today's wired, Twittered world. Few books offer time and lifestyle management guidance as succinctly as Rescue Yourself. Adam Chalker's book is loaded with practical, common sense advice and tools that are easy to understand and implement. Adam’s use of modern eastern strategies as well as traditional western exercises is refreshing and effective. The Rescue Workbook is a well-thought out tool that was instrumental in guiding me smartly through a career transition. Don't just rescue yourself, rescue your friends and loved ones, they'll love you for it!"

Brian Cusick, Manager, Financial Services

"I don't consider myself an overly stressed person or someone who feels overwhelmed constantly. But lately, I've definitely had more overwhelming moments than I was used to. I read through Rescue Yourself! just last week, and I have already been able to make a few tweaks to lessen the amounts of overwhelm I've felt.

My most important change has been to triage my email. And even after just a few days, I've felt so much more organized.  One of my other favorite take-aways has been Parkinson's Law, which states that activities expand to take up the amount of time we allow them. I used to think that I got more done when I had more things on my plate. Now I realize that's probably because I have to set more time-limits for myself and I don't procrastinate as much when I have more to do! I look forward to continuing to implement the principles from this guide and reaping the benefits, both professionally and personally.

In short, I believe that Rescue Yourself! is a helpful guide for ANYONE. You don't have to be a super busy executive in order to learn from this detailed, easy-to-understand guide. I would definitely recommend it!"

Lindsey Willis, HR Systems Specialist

"Before reading, my first thought was, "Oh my. Do I even have the time to do this?" What an ironic sign that I needed to read this book more than anyone. Once I finally did make the time to do so, I wished I had read it weeks before. The tips and strategies are straight-forward and grounded in common sense, which is exactly why they work. For the severely time-management challenged (yours truly) to those needing a tune-up, I hope they take the time to read this book and do the exercises."
